Signature Three-Day Retreat

"We don't live to do yoga. We do yoga so that we may live more easily, more joyously, and more gracefully."

The Somatera Signature Retreat is a three-day, two-night immersive experience designed to help guests slow down, reconnect with themselves and feel the healing power of nature. Yoga, mindful hiking, meditation, breathwork, creative expression, nourishing food and genuine rest — held in an intentionally small group so you feel safe, seen and free to move at your own pace.

The Itinerary

Three days of spaciousness

Day One

Arrive · Slow Down · Settle In

8:00 am — Guests are collected from Alice Springs and travel together into the West MacDonnell Ranges. On arrival you are welcomed into camp, introduced to one another and given time to settle in.

A nourishing lunch is shared before easing into the afternoon: a Welcome Circle, camp orientation, nature journaling or a creative art workshop, and an optional visit to Glen Helen for swimming, meditation or quiet reflection.

As the sun sets we move into a gentle Restorative Yin practice to release the travel from your body, followed by a shared dinner around the fire and a guided meditation beneath the stars.

Day Two

Explore · Move · Connect

The day begins slowly with tea or coffee before a morning Hatha practice. After breakfast we depart for the famous Pound Loop Walk — experienced mindfully rather than as a guided march. There is space for silence. Space for conversation. Space for solitude.

Halfway through the Pound Loop, the group gathers for a Hatha yoga flow session, followed by a picnic lunch. We then continue the journey with a river crossing and the return ascent to the rim overlooking Ormiston Gorge. After descending, there is an optional stop at the Ormiston Gorge Cafe.

Returning to camp, there is free time to rest, journal or simply be. Late afternoon brings a guided Breathwork Workshop, then a shared dinner, an evening relaxation meditation and conversation around the fire.

Day Three

Sunrise, Reflection & Return

Before dawn, we depart for the saddle of Mount Sonder, hiking mindfully beneath the first light of day. As the sun rises over the West MacDonnell Ranges, we'll pause for a guided sunrise meditation, taking in the stillness and vast beauty of this remarkable landscape before beginning our descent.

From the base of Mount Sonder, we'll enjoy a gentle mindful walk to Redbank Gorge, allowing time to absorb the final moments of our journey through Country before returning to camp for a nourishing brunch.

As our retreat draws to a close, we'll gather one final time for a heartfelt Cacao Ceremony, reflection circle and intention-setting practice—an opportunity to honour your experience, celebrate new connections, and carry your insights home.

We'll then begin our return journey to Alice Springs, with optional scenic stops along the way, arriving back in the late afternoon.

Our way

Retreat Philosophy

Somatera retreats are not about rushing from one activity to the next.

They are designed around spaciousness. Move slowly. Take breaks. Spend time alone if you wish, connect with others when it feels natural, and experience the landscape in a deeply personal way. Every activity is an invitation — never an obligation.

Nature becomes the teacher.

Yoga becomes the practice.

Stillness becomes the gift.
